Shakane and Limelight dismantel relationship
Wednesday, 25 February 2009
In July 2008, Shakane Productions moved on from the relationship with Limelight Productions due to financial difficulties that stemmed from the US. Six months of development into 'The Harvester' has been disappointing to let go. Shakane Productions has moved on with their own development of 'The Harvester' and the script is showing itself as a brilliant intense Thriller. Shakane Productions continue on their path to creating an entertainment corporation.

Shane Dempsey and Kane Sarota the owners of Shakane Productions Pty. Ltd. are on the verge of their first feature film contract with Limelight International. This co-production treaty will join our two companies for the feature film production of 'The Harvester' Limelight International came on board with Shakane Productions after our recent success in the United States at the AFM . Richard Stewart of Stewart and Wall Entertainment & Limelight International had initially began working with Shakane Productions as a mentor for the American Film Market in October/November 2007.

Shane Dempsey & Kane Sarota had met up with Richard at the AFM on several occasions, however after returning to our home soil Mr. Stewart had agreed to join the production of 'The Harvester' as Executive Producer and furthermore he selected 'The Harvester' for the Limelight slate for 2008.

Shakane Productions is excited about the journey they are about to undergo with Limelight International and looks forward to the future of 'The Harvester' and beyond.

The success of Shakane Productions came in August 2007 when our latest short film was nominated for 6 awards at the Warner Roadshow Studios 21st New Film Makers Awards 07; Best Actress, Best Director, Best Producer, Best Overall Film, Best Sound and winning the award for Best Independent Drama. This award was a very pivotal point for Shakane Productions because MANNERS took us to the next step.

Kane Sarota had placed an importance on the ethics and values Shakane Productions stands by and had made a thank you call to Lynne Benzie the Vice President at Warner Roadshow Studios, simply to thank her for the award. Shakane Productions was the very first company and award winner in the last 17 years to thank Warner for the honor of their distinguished award. This phone call was about to change the course of our lives...

From the acceptance of that award and placing that phone call, we had made the decision to attend the AFM 2007. As time was short, we instantly organized meetings with Lynne Benzie; Warner Roadshow, Gayle King; the senior minister for trade, Ian Gilbert; our business mentor and project manager for the venture capital wing at Queensland State Development. We had organized meetings with Kerry O’Rourke; the managing director of QPIX. We had meetings with Richard Stewart of Stewart & Wall Entertainment & Limelight Productions to attain a mentor for the AFM; he is a producer with 25 years experience in the Australian film industry (And later would become our executive producer on our first feature film 'The Harvester'). We then attended a luncheon to meet the new Queensland Premier Anna Bligh.

By the time it came, in late October, to jet-set to LA Shakane Productions had further self-funded Shane & Kane to attend the AFM and had also organized several meetings prior to the market start date. The festival was 8 days of meetings and research into the late hours of the night. We established over two-hundred contacts and came back home mid-November with 5 options to follow up on for the production of 'The Harvester'.

Number one on the list was Stewart & Wall Entertainment and in early February 2008 'The Harvester' was selected by Limelight Productions & Stewart & Wall Entertainment for a 2008 production.
