 Kane Sarota received a Diploma at the Queensland Screen Performance Academy, studied at The Actors Centre and The Actors Workshop and has spent the last twelve years working as an actor in a variety of roles in film, television, theatre and radio. Kane has just finished co-starring in the feature film 'ICU'. Kane is also a talented writer and producer, one of his first successful short films was ‘Pitching’ which he wrote and starred in with Bill Hunter. In 2003-2004, he worked in an extremely busy head office of Lucky 7 Productions in the UK as a production assistant, script reader, script editor and producer’s assistant to Executive Producer Alan Latham. During this time, Lucky 7 Productions produced 9 feature films with the likes of Andy Garcia, Kelly Brooke, Dolph Lundgren, Jean-Claude Van Damm and Dennis Hopper. In 2005 back in Australia, Kane joined Garrett Russell as Assistant Producer on the critically acclaimed short film ‘Heads Up’ supported by the Pacific Film and Television Commission. ‘Heads Up’ has gone on to win 10 awards, including 5 Best Film awards around the world. Kane and his business partner Shane Dempsey went into business in 2006. Their first piece of work was the award winning short film ‘Humidity Rising’. Kane was the lead actor and producer in this dark thriller that has gone on to win numerous awards and accolades. Shakane Productions is mentored by the project manager in the venture capital wing of the Queensland State Development Department, developing their entertainment corporation including a 12 feature film slate. Kane's experience and vision for the Australian film industry is paramount to the foundations of Shakane Productions. |

 Shane Dempsey comes from an artist’s background of portrait painting in Adelaide. Arriving in Queensland in 1998 he studied at the Australian College of Journalism receiving his Advanced Diploma of Australian Professional Scriptwriting in 2000. Forming independent production company Ralph 'n' Realm Pictures that same year, Shane went on to write, produce and direct eleven independent short films between 2000 & 2004. His short film ‘Shelter’ received acclaim from audience members and panel judges at the ‘In the Bin Short Film Festival’. In 2004 Shane graduated from the Australian College of Information Technology with a television production level 4 certificate. Shane then graduated in 2006 from the National College of Business with four business certificates and an award-winning Business Mastery accolade and went on to form two video production companies. Shane with fellow producer and friend Kane Sarota then produced ‘Humidity Rising’. This world acclaimed short film and multi-award winner was the bench mark for which Shakane Productions was formed. Shakane Productions is mentored by the project manager in the venture capital wing of the Queensland State Development Department, developing their entertainment corporation including a 12 feature film slate. Shane's initiative and understanding of business and his detailed approach to directing films will be an asset to Shakane's future movements in the film industry. |
